Dominique Daye Hunter (she/her) is an Afro-Indigenous (Black, YesΓ‘h/Saponi, Irish and Polish American) storyteller. A poet, author, clothing designer, advocate, and consultant, she is a self-taught artist born and raised in the New York tri-state area.
The CEO of D. Daye Hunter Designs, LLC, Dominique's work explores the complex connections between history, trauma, and healing in Black and Indigenous communities. She uses storytelling to curate transformative spacesβboth virtual and physicalβthat amplify BIPOC voices and drive impactful social and environmental change.
Dominique is the author of Seeds: Stories of Afro-Indigenous Resilience. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nonprofit Leadership Management with an emphasis on American Indian Studies and is a certified DEIB/A trainer.
Dominique lives in North Carolina and works everywhere.

Dominique will host the official release of her upcoming childrenβs book Hasi ΔΚ°igoΜΉ:yoΜΉ (Sweet Berry) with a special in-person storytime and book signing at the University of North Carolina Botanical Garden. Written entirely in YesΓ‘:sahΔ― with English translation, this event marks the first public reading of the book. Guests will enjoy light refreshments, have an opportunity to meet the author, and experience this joyful moment in language revitalization and cultural celebration.

Dominique will present βSweet Berries for Good Thoughts: Language Revitalization and Ecological Knowledge through Indigenous Childrenβs Literature,β sharing insights from her upcoming childrenβs book Hasi ΔhigΗ«:yΗ« (Sweet Berries). Her current research explores how the book supports both children and adults in learning YesΓ‘:sahΔ― and increasing cultural comfort and confidence in traditional berry picking practices.
